Children who witness domestic violence suffer emotional and psychological trauma that can have long-lasting effects on their development. They may experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, and behavioral issues. They may also struggle with relationships, school, and substance abuse.

It is important for parents and caregivers to seek support and resources to help both themselves and their children cope with the effects of domestic violence. Above all, it is important to have a loving and peaceful home where kids can thrive.

I watched a friend relive a trauma experience from her childhood when she heard her neighbor’s children crying whilst the parent fought. This motivated me to write this piece.
